Although Echinacea purpurea has a long history of safe use with no documented cases of birth defects, consult a health care practitioner prior to use during pregnancy and/or breastfeeding. Echinacea stimulates immune function and may, in theory, interfere with immunosuppressants. This immuno-stimulating effect may also exacerbate auto-immune disorders or progressive systemic disease by stimulating disease activity.
